Kancil has four levels (Tahap). The first unit of every Tahap is free to play and replay forever. After that, you unlock a Tahap with a single one-time payment, with no subscription and nothing that renews. Each Tahap is S$6.98 at the launch price until 31 December 2026, then S$14.98. The app shows prices in your local currency before you confirm.

Tahap 1 is Primary 1–2 (listen-first, no reading needed). Tahap 2 is Primary 3–4, Tahap 3 is Primary 5, and Tahap 4 is Primary 6 and PSLE. The app also shows the Tahun and Darjah equivalents for Malaysia and Brunei. Your child can move between Tahap on the home map at any time, so if a level feels too easy or too hard, just switch.

We added a new Tahap 1 for Primary 1–2, so the older levels moved up one number: the old Tahap 1, 2 and 3 are now Tahap 2, 3 and 4. The lessons inside them haven't changed, and nothing is lost: progress, stars, coins, screen-time settings and purchases all carry over.

Thank you for backing Kancil early! Families who subscribed before we switched to one-time purchases keep every level, permanently, at no extra cost. Your old subscription keeps renewing until you cancel it — on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling does not remove your access. If you later move to a new phone and access doesn't come back, email us and we'll send a free unlock code.

Open Kancil, reach the unlock screen, and tap "Restore purchase." Make sure you're signed in to the Google or Apple account that bought or redeemed the level. On iPhone, eligible purchases can also restore through Family Sharing when purchase sharing is enabled.

On the PIN screen, tap "Forgot PIN?". Kancil asks you to multiply two 2-digit numbers (a grown-up can use a calculator). Get it right and you choose a new 4-digit PIN. Your child's progress, coins and purchases stay as they are. We can't look up or reset the PIN for you: the PIN never leaves the phone.

Tap the gear on the home screen, then Parent Settings → Advanced → "Reset Kancil". It erases every child's progress, coins and history on this phone, and asks you to confirm first. This can't be undone. Your purchases are kept, and "Restore purchases" brings them back on any phone. Deleting the app also erases all progress. To remove just one child, use the Child section in Parent Settings instead.

Yes. In Parent Settings → Child, tap "Add a child". Each child gets their own name, mascot, coins, streak and progress. The parent PIN and any purchases are shared, so you only pay once for the family's phone.

Kancil can nudge your child at a time you pick (between 4 pm and 8 pm) on days they haven't played yet. After a few missed days it reminds every other day, and it stops after two weeks without play. Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself: there is no push server and nothing is sent to us. Switch it off or change the time in Parent Settings → Reminders.

Yes. The parent area (PIN screen, dashboard, settings and the buy screen) can be shown in English or Bahasa Melayu. Change it in Parent Settings → Language. Your child's lessons don't change.

Buku Cerita is Hikayat Sang Kancil, a comic of the classic Sang Kancil tales starring the Kancil your child plays, told in Malay with English help. Each boss your child beats, and the halfway point of the longer units, unlocks the next page. The book is read inside the app.

Parent Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage stats". When it's off, nothing is sent from that phone. The stats never include your child's name, mascot, PIN or anything typed. Our Privacy Policy lists exactly what is sent.
